SUNDAIKAI PULI KOLAMBU



Sundaikai is known as turkey berry in English. It helps to clean our intestines. We should make our children to consume this vegetable as this is a NATURAL DEWORMER.

INGREDIENTS :
Fresh Sundaikai    1 cup
Small onion         1cup
Garlic            1
Tomato        1 No
Tamarind        lemon size ball
Sambar powder     2 tbsp
Turmeric powder    1 tsp
Gingelly Oil         6 tbsp
Jaggery            1 tbsp
Salt             to taste
Seasoning:
Mustard Seeds    1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds    ½ tsp
Curry leaves    few
METHOD :
Wash the berry and press lightly as we press garlic. The berry should just open a little. Wash the berries in running water twice.
Heat oil in kadai add the items for seasoning one by one.
Add the chopped small onions and sauté till the onions are soft. Now put peeled garlic, tomato and berries and cook till the berries are tender.
Add sambar powder, turmeric powder and salt. Cook for 5 mins stirring in between.Cook till oil separates.
Add tamarind juice and enough water and cook till raw smell goes.
Check for salt and add jaggery and cook till the kolambu thickens.
Serve with  steaming white rice and appalam.
